11th NetWorks Forum

Network Planning in Times of Emerging Technologies

on May, 24th and 25th 2018

at the International Congress Center Dresden, Germany

Detecon hosted the NetWorks Forum at the International Congress Center in the Saxon capital Dresden already the eleventh time.
Around 80 participants from network operators, vendors and universities took this event on May 24th and 25th as opportunity to present current topics about telecommunication network planning, to describe the usage of NetWorks in their companies and to discuss intensively with Detecon colleagues.

At the beginning, Dr. Egon Jannusch (responsible for the Detecon location in Dresden) welcomed the participants. Four sessions followed the Welcome Note on the first day of the Forum. Network operators such as Vodafone, Hrvatski Telekom., Dataport AöR and the consulting company seim & partner presented how they use NetWorks to solve current planning tasks successfully. In addition, well-known vendors such as Ciena and Coriant got the chance to speak. Presentations of TU Dresden and from Detecon itself finished this first perfect day of the Forum.

Our guests spent the evening either in the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon of the Dresden Zwinger or in the Historic Green Vault located in the Dresden castle. All visitors were deeply impressed by the treasures from different epochs. The NetWorks Forum banquet at the restaurant Italienisches Dörfchen close to the Semper Opera House in the heart of the old city finished this interesting day.

The second day was characterized by Detecon’s planning and optimization software NetWorks. Detailed examples were used to present the latest features. Thereby the examples focused on the planning of optical transport and FTTH access networks and basic graphical features.

Detecon’s NetWorks team is very satisfied about the positive feedback on the content and organization of this conference and is glad to prepare the 12th NetWorks Forum!
