Network Planning in Times of Emerging Technologies
Event date: May 24 and 25, 2018
Location: International Congress Center Dresden
At the beginning, Dr. Egon Jannusch (Dresden site manager) welcomed the participants in a welcome note. This was followed by a total of four sessions on the first day. Network operators like Vodafone, Hrvatski Telekom., Dataport AöR as well as the consulting company seim & partner reported how they successfully use NetWorks for current planning tasks. Well-known manufacturers such as Ciena and Coriant also had their say. Presentations by the TU Dresden and Detecon itself rounded off the first day of the event.
In the evening, the guests then took the opportunity to be impressed by the treasures from various epochs either in the Mathematical-Physical Salon of the Dresden Zwinger or in the Historical Green Vault located in the Residence Palace. The interesting day ended with a banquet in the Italian Village not far from the Semper Opera House in the heart of the historic Old Town.
As usual, the second day was devoted to the Detecon planning and optimization software NetWorks. The presentation of further developments was based on concrete examples. Among other things, new functions for the planning of optical transport and FTTH access networks as well as basic graphical representations were presented.
The NetWorks team from Dresden was very satisfied with the positive response of the invited guests to the content and organization of the forum and is already looking forward to the 12th NetWorks Forum!
